Prenatal Care

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

The coming period will be one with many changes and this will undoubtedly involve a lot of questions. You want information to make your own decisions? You want optimal preparation for what is to come? You want a personal follow-up and guidance? Then you are at the right address! The midwives of InTeam accompany you during your pregnancy in a professional manner, in collaboration with your gynaecologist and / or GP. We also offer a listening ear, we provide answers to your questions and prepare you for labour, delivery, postpartum and breastfeeding.

Prenatal consultation

What does a prenatal consultation imply?

During the first consultation there will be time to get to know each other and to get acquainted with the work of the midwife. Several options of follow-up will be discussed. After this the follow-up file for the pregnancy is made. An important part of the consultation is the pregnancy check-up. We follow-up the evolution of the pregnancy to be sure you and your baby are well.
The check-up consists of:

  • Taking weight and blood pressure
  • Determining the position of the baby
  • Measuring your belly
  • Listening to the fetal heart (from 12 weeks of gestation)
  • Blood sampling, urine control (and smear if necessary)

What to bring along?

  • Mother booklet (if you don’t have one yet, we will provide it)
  • Blood group card (if available)
  • Sticker of your social insurance
  • Recent laboratory results (if available)

High-risk pregnancy

If you have a high-risk pregnancy, the midwife can do follow-up at home. This is done on prescription and in consultation with your gynaecologist.

You want to make an appointment?

You can make an appointment with the midwife as soon as you suspect or know you are pregnant. A consultation lasts approximately one hour.

For an appointment or more information, contact us at info@inteam-vroedvrouwenpraktijk.be or 0498 48 11 02. The consultations take place at Waversesteenweg 51A, 1560 Hoeilaart or at home.

Prenatal workshops

Getting the correct information is important to make your own decisions and prepare you optimally for labour, delivery, the postpartum period, life with your baby and breastfeeding.

  • When should I notify the midwife or go to the hospital?
  • What is happening with me and the baby during labour and delivery?
  • What options do I have during labour and delivery?
  • What is the role of my partner?
  • When do I leave the hospital?
  • What happens after the baby is born?
  • What can I expect the first hours, days, weeks ...?
  • How does breastfeeding work?

This is just a selection of information that can be obtained during prenatal preparation. You can get tailor-made information for you to make informed decisions throughout your pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. This preparation is offered both in group as on an individual basis. Individually it can be combined with a prenatal consultation. Several prenatal preparation workshops are offered:

  • Pregnancy workshop
  • Breastfeeding workshop
  • Ready for early discharge

You still have questions after attending a workshop or you want to deepen a subject? The dates don’t suit you? You prefer a one-to-one session? We will seek for a moment at your best convenience.
