Psychologist
Elli Gilbert is a clinical psychologist who focuses on counseling parents and families with young children.
After her study Clinical Psychology, Elli started her career in 2007 within the Special Youth Care. There she was responsible for guiding families with children in a disturbing living or upbringing situation. From the beginning of 2009 to the end of 2010 she worked as a student psychologist at the VUB. There she worked on themes such as perfectionism, fear of failure and stress.
In the meantime, Elli also obtained her master's degree in Criminological Sciences and from 2011 she ended up in academia. She conducted research into, among other things, honour-related violence and the perception of punishment and obtained her doctorate in criminology. She was also responsible for supervising the internships of criminology students.
After a few years, Elli realized that she wanted to re-engage in the emergency services. Based on her theoretical knowledge and personal experiences, she decided to focus on guiding parents and families in the extended perinatal period.
